Privacy notice
How Handlemart uses personal data. Effective September 23, 2026.
Controller
Handlemart is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us at support@handlemart.com.
What we collect
- Account and profile data: email address, name, handle, profile details, preferences and sign-in credentials.
- Marketplace data: listings, offers, messages, deals and escrow transaction details.
- Communications: messages between buyers and sellers, emails to us, comments, reports and appeals.
- Usage data: pages and listings viewed, searches made and actions taken, including clicks, scrolling and recordings of how the site is used, and actions taken through agents and other programs using our interfaces, with date and time, referrer, approximate location derived from the IP address, and device and browser information.
- Data from partners: transaction status from our escrow provider, and public records about domain names from registries.
Why we use it
- To provide the service and perform our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- To operate and secure the service, prevent abuse, give sellers and the market statistics about interest in names, and improve and market Handlemart, based on our legitimate interest in running a useful, secure and growing marketplace (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- To meet legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
- Where you have given consent, on that basis (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR); you can withdraw it at any time.
Who receives it
Service providers acting for us: hosting and infrastructure (including database, delivery, DNS and parking, email and security), analytics, AI processing for appraisals and commentary, and browser push services if you enable notifications. Escrow providers receive what a transaction needs, registries and registrars receive the domain names queried, and sponsors receive aggregated statistics. Sale pages, public profiles and comments are public. We disclose data where the law requires it, and it may pass to a successor if the business is transferred.
International transfers
Our providers process data in the United States and other countries. Transfers from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Retention
We keep account data while your account exists, and marketplace and transaction records as long as needed to document them and to meet legal retention obligations. Security and usage data linked to an identifier are kept for a limited period, and aggregated statistics and public records about domain names without limit.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and browser storage that are strictly necessary to sign you in, keep the service secure, remember your settings and record your privacy choice; these need no consent. Where the law requires consent, we store analytics identifiers on your device only after you give it, which you can do or refuse in one click; elsewhere, analytics storage is on by default. You can change your choice at any time under Privacy choices below. Without analytics storage, we measure usage without storing anything on your device.
Privacy choices
For this browser. Each browser you use keeps its own choice.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may object at any time to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing, by contacting us. You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority.
An email address is required to create an account or to contact a seller; everything else is optional. We do not make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you based solely on automated processing.
Changes
We may update this notice. The effective date shows the current version, and we will inform you of material changes.
