Test driving Afternic Portfolio Agent
GoDaddy’s Afternic is finally giving its sellers a dashboard that does more than count clicks.
The Portfolio Agent is a quiet admission that the old model—list it, forget it, pray—has been bleeding sellers for years.
By limiting the rollout to accounts under 500 domains, Afternic is stress-testing the tool on the very portfolios most likely to be neglected, mispriced, or stuffed with junk.
The real product here isn’t analytics. It’s leverage. Once the agent can flag underperformers and suggest moves, Afternic owns the recommendation funnel—and the renewal revenue that follows.
Sellers should read this as a soft onboarding to algorithmic management. The day the agent starts auto-adjusting prices is the day human discretion becomes optional.
The 500-domain ceiling is also a tell. GoDaddy wants feedback from the long tail before exposing the tool to its whales, who generate the bulk of parking and lease-to-own cash flow.
Expect the next iteration to bundle Portfolio Agent with Afternic’s Fast Transfer and lease-to-own rails, turning a diagnostic tool into a full sales pipeline.
For now, the agent is a mirror. Soon enough, it will be a steering wheel.
