Network Solutions duped by fake UDRP notice

A forged UDRP notice turned a registrar's abuse process into a liability.

For the second time in two months, someone dressed up as a UDRP provider and got a registrar to freeze a domain it should never have touched.

The lock itself is the attack. Once a domain is frozen, the operator loses control while the fraudster works the back channel.

Network Solutions processed the notice as legitimate. That means its intake funnel trusted the letterhead more than the source.

For domain owners, the lesson is mundane: a locked domain is not proof of a real dispute, only of a process that can be gamed.
