Interview – Pierre Bertin of RollerAds

A parking company tells you it's different. The market tells you what it costs.

RollerAds is a domain parking outfit. The business model is straightforward: monetize the typo-traffic, the expired inventory, the forgotten registrations. The real product is not the domains. It is the audience that lands there by accident.

When a parking firm asks you to notice how it differs from its peers, pay attention to the revenue split, the traffic sources, and the policy on direct navigation. That is where the differences actually live. Everything else is brochure.

International business development, in this corner of the industry, is a polite phrase for chasing arbitrage across ad exchanges. The margins are thin, the compliance is uneven, and the moats are mostly contractual.

The interview format itself is the tell. A Q&A on a domain-industry blog is not journalism. It is a channel for the company to set its own narrative, with the journalist reduced to stenography. Useful for the reader only if you read between the questions.

Watch the language. If the executive leans on words like 'quality,' 'premium,' or 'brand-safe,' they are repositioning against the well-known reputation of parking: low CPMs, MFA accusations, and bot-heavy traffic. The rebranding is the strategy.

The structural reality: parking revenue is downstream of registrar economics, registry policy, and the major ad exchanges. RollerAds does not control any of those. It competes on integration and on the quality of its optimization layer.

If you are an advertiser, the question is simple. What is the incremental reach you cannot buy elsewhere, and at what true cost per verified visit? If you cannot answer that, the interview has done its job on you.
