Chemicals company attempts reverse domain name hijacking

A chemicals company tried to take a domain it didn't own, and the panel said so out loud.

The Czech Arbitration Court's panel didn't just deny Advanced ChemBlocks Inc. its transfer request for aablocks.com — it concluded the company attempted reverse domain name hijacking.

That finding matters. RDNH is the system's way of saying the complainant knew or should have known it had no case, and used the UDRP as a cheap seizure tool rather than a good-faith trademark remedy.

The panel said the company failed to meet any of its burdens. A total miss on standing and merits is the classic pattern of an abuse of process.

For domain owners, this is a quiet affirmation: a properly held, good-faith registration can survive a baseless complaint, and the complainant's own conduct can end up on the record.
